SIND is a contemporary feminist art gallery in Reykjavík, Iceland
WHAT DOES FEMINIST
ART GALLERY ENTAIL?
Founding a feminist art gallery was never just about creating a space to exhibit art by women and queer artists — it was about building a new kind of structure in the art world. One rooted in ethics, care, and anti-elitism.
SIND is a declaration of belief in fairness, transparency, and the importance of amplifying voices that have been sidelined for too long.
It is an endorsement of freedom of speech and freedom of creation. We are honest with our artists, clear with our buyers, and always mindful of the responsibilities that come with cultural work.
Our model is matriarchal in spirit: collaborative, nurturing, and guided by conscience rather than competition. Every decision we make — from who we work with to how we do business — is shaped by a commitment to doing things differently, and doing them well.
